If you are new client I recommend that you book in for 'New Client Assessment'. This session consists of a thorough analysis of your needs and goals, including postural and movement assessments. As you are moving around during the session I recommend that you wear comfortable clothing or underwear, such as shorts, and sports bra for female clients. The session also contains manual therapy techniques which predominantly are direct skin contact.
If it is your first session think about the reason you booked this session, what are your expectations and goals? You will be asked to complete an extensive intake form, and think about injuries, surgeries and trauma that you have experienced in the past, even if you feel that it has resolved. What is your answer to the question "How does it feel to be you?"
If you have the time it is always good to leave some time for a walk before, but mostly after your sessions. Pohara Beach is straight across the road from my clinic room.
In between sessions you can choose to keep a journal, documenting sensations, thoughts or emotions that might come up in between sessions.
The interval between sessions can be once a week, fortnightly, or once a month. This depends on your personal goals and needs; you want to have enough time between sessions to integrate the changes from the previous sessions, but not too long so you feel you lose the momentum.
